BCO Terms of Service

The BCO acts as a neutral entity or middle man that does not take sides in a dispute. The BCO works to organize communication between the member and the consumer, to help both sides come to a resolution to the complaint. In many cases, dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration, may be available to help resolve the dispute.

Contact the Company First

Always contact the company first, try to work out your complaint directly with the company. We suggest that you contact the owner, supervisor or manager. If you are still not completely satisfied after contacting the company management we will be glad to try to assist you.

Complaints the BCO Will Handles

BusinessCheck.org accepts complaints that meet the following criteria:

  • The complaint includes the company's name and provides sufficient information to determine the company's location. A mail address or phone number (except for toll-free numbers) will ordinarily be sufficient.
     

  • The complaint includes the complainant's name and postal address;
     

  • The complaint is from a customer, or the customer's authorized representative, of the company complained about.
     

  • The complaint relates to a on-line sales or marketplace issues;
     

  • The complaint alleges a problem experienced with the services or products that the company provided or agreed to provide;
     

  • The complaint is not in litigation and has not been resolved by a previous court action, arbitration, or settlement between the parties; and
     

  • The complaint seeks assistance from the BusinessCheck.org;
     

Complaints the BCO Will Not Handle

The BCO does not handle complaints about the following:

  • Employer and / or employee disputes.
     

  • Complaints relating solely to collection of debts when no other buyer/seller issues involved.
     

  • Complaints against government agencies unless the complaint is about an electricity, water or public transportation and the complaint involves administrative or customer-related service issues, such as billing and over-billing.
     

  • Complaints against individuals who are not engaged in a business (example; a person who sells the following:
     

  • A personal car through a classified newspaper or advertisement.
     

  • Complaints alleging discrimination or violation of constitutional rights.
     

  • Complaints alleging criminal violations by company employees except for complaints alleging theft by company employees while performing services.
     

  • Complaints concerning the competency or malpractice of doctors, dentists, licensed therapists, veterinarians, and lawyers, etc.. We handle billing disputes that do not involve underlying competency issues.
     

  • Complaints that challenge the validity of local, state or federal law.
     

  • Complaints that are solely based on the consumer's dissatisfaction with a company's prices;

We do not process anonymous complaints. In order to process a complaint we at minimum will need a name and a postal address for the consumer.
